Supervision is considered good practice for spiritual directors; as from July 2014 all spiritual directors on our SpiDir List have supervision arrangements in place.
The Association of Pastoral Supervisors and Educators define supervision as:

“… a regular, planned, intentional and boundaried space in which a practitioner skilled in supervision (the supervisor) meets with one or more other practitioners (the supervisees) to look together at the supervisees’ practice.”
It is also important to note that supervision may also be peer led.
